Notice Wonder

Today we read a story called "Charlotte the Scientist is Squished" to explore the scientific process. Ask your child if they remember the problem and how Charlotte solved the problem.

We did our first "Notice/Wonder" math talk.

"I notice there is 1 one, 2 twos, 3 threes and 4 fours"
"I think the next row would be 5 fives"
"I notice it is a triangle shape"
"I notice on the front of the dice it goes 3,4,5,6.

Students came up with their own ideas about what math they can do with this picture.

"I want to find out what all the threes plus fours make"
"You could count the dots to find out how many are in each row"

Reminder: No school Friday or Monday and Tuesday is our field trip! Dress appropriately for the weather. Students should have snow pants, hat, mitts and boots. We will be outside most of the day. Students will also need a snack, lunch and water bottle. The bus leaves promptly after we do attendance. Thank you to our volunteers who are joining us! You make it possible for the students to have these unique learning experiences outside the classroom. An email will be sent to volunteers before Tuesday with further information about the day.

Have a nice long weekend!
